The ultra-low-noise power supply is based on the same principle as the Nano Transport Signature and Nano Dac Signature. Like all Signature products, it adopts a heavy 10mm aluminum chassis with 5mm bitumen plates. On the technical side, the Nano Amplifier Signature delivers 2 x 400 w at 8 ohms stereo or 1 x 1600 w at 8 ohms mono in an extremely compact format.

After the era of the tube amplifier came the era of the transistor amplifier.
Class A and B have always been poor energy transformers. Their efficiency ranges from 10% for class A to 40% for the best class B. The main role of an audio amplifier is to deliver maximum energy to the loudspeakers. The standard analog amplifier in class A or class B is rather mediocre on this criterion.
Numerous attempts have been made to improve amplifier behavior. Class D (PWM) is a step in this direction, but it doesn't match the musicality of the best conventional amplifiers. In fact, efficiency is good, but this technology leads to numerous harmonics, and therefore significant distortion.
The 3D Lab NANO AMPLIFIER has combined the performance of recent techniques with the musicality of more classical ones. It's a new technology combining the possibilities of digital and analog. Small signals are processed by symmetrical, low-noise analog circuits. These analog circuits are equipped with a low-noise linear power supply. The power stage uses PWM with an intelligent module that slaves and controls the process. The power supply of this power stage is switched-mode for maximum efficiency. Under these conditions, the distortion rate is equivalent to the best Class A and B analog amplifiers. But if distortion is equivalent, there's no comparison in efficiency: with this new technology, it's around 90%.
The 3D Lab NANO AMPLIFIER SIGNATURE takes the basics of the 3D Lab NANO AMPLIFIER and improves on them in several respects. The input stage has been completely redesigned. It is equipped exclusively with extremely musical high-end POLYPROPYLENE capacitors.
The power supply for this stage follows the philosophy of the 3D Lab TRANSPORT SIGNATURE power supply, with ULTRA LOW NOISE technology. To achieve minimum input distortion, the power supply must be beyond reproach. For the SIGNATURE, 3D Lab has developed a unique power supply. It's an ULTRA LOW NOISE power supply with a core noise level of less than one microvolt. This is an exceptional value. Thanks to its ULTRA LOW NOISE power supplies, the 3D Lab SIGNATURE has two, and the distortion rate reaches ultra-low values. This power supply also greatly enhances signal dynamics.
The 3D Lab NANO AMPLIFIER SIGNATURE takes up the mechanical foundations of the SIGNATURE range. It has a heavy, hyper-damped chassis. Its side walls are 10mm thick. It is lined with 5mm-thick bitumen sheets. Its assembly is entirely mechanical. Under these conditions, the 3D Lab SIGNATURE operates much more quietly and without external vibration.
Remember that in an analog amplifier, 60 to 90% of the energy goes to heat. The loudspeaker receives only a small proportion of the energy. Under these conditions, 3D Lab NANO amplifiers are much more environmentally friendly.
