The MA9000 is the largest of the brand's integrated models, and the successor to the MA8000. Like the MA8900, it incorporates improved next-generation circuitry, notably on the control processor and headphone output circuit, with higher-quality components. The design of the lateral heat sinks has also been modified.

Another new feature: the internal dac now accepts 6 inputs (2 optical, 2 coaxial, 1 USB, 1 proprietary Din) and is in the form of a removable module called DA1, which can be upgraded at a later date. This DA1 module uses an 8-channel Quad Balanced converter chip and decodes all PCM formats up to 32-bit / 384 kHz and DSD256.

Also equipped with output transformers, it delivers 2x300w and can power any loudspeaker. Like all McIntosh integrated units, it also features 2 high-quality phono inputs (MM/MC).
